Usually, a disaster prevention parkis like any other general park; it serves as a place for people to carry outrecreational activities, exercises, and educational activities.
In the event of a major disaster,it provides a safe space for evacuation so that secondary disasters can beavoided. A disaster prevention park needs to have sufficient outdoor space toshelter large numbers of disaster relief personnel, machines and equipment tobe brought in, and groups of evacuated civilians. It serves as a foothold fordisaster relief, restoration, and reconstruction. It is where disaster-affectedcivilians are guaranteed short-term shelter and basic life necessities; it alsoensures smooth flow of traffic on disaster relief roads.
When should I go to a disasterprevention park?
When a large-scale earthquakeoccurs and the district office announces the opening of a disaster preventionpark (or emergency shelter), and you think your house is no longer safe, it isrecommended that you take your emergency kits (bug-out bags) with you and headto the nearest disaster prevention park (or emergency shelter) to gather withothers and let government units carry out shelter arrangements.
