Three life-saving steps in anearthquake: “Drop,Cover,and Holdon.” Those who use a cane or other simple assistance aid should also follow thedrop,cover, and hold on procedure. After squatting down with the assistance of theaid, place the aid to the side Cover your head and neck with yourarms. Whenpossible, crawl under a firm table for cover and hold tightly on to the tablelegs to prevent injury.

For anyone who uses a mobility aid,a wheelchair, or is bed-ridden, immediately lock the wheels and maintain asitting posture to prevent falling. Use your arms to protect your head andneck. Do not attempt to move from the mobility aid, wheelchair, or the bed.
